Thought flows in terms of stories...

Stories about events, stories about people, and stories about intentions and achievements. The best teachers are the best story tellers. We learn in the form of stories-Frank Smith. An educational system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn't teach them how to make a life-Author Unknown.

4 samples of parent’s waiver will serve as guide in writing...

The parent’s waiver is very important when you ask for a parent’s permit or a special favor from the parents about their children who would like to go to the venue where the competition takes place or join with you in a special trip. The 4 samples of parent’s waiver will serve as guide in writing such a letter to the parents concerned.

Madame:

This waiver is to overtly countenance my son/daughter
of                      Year, Section                                       to join the DIVISION SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE (DSPC) 2008, who is also one of the area level presscon winners…singled out/qualified to compete in ____________________ on November 10-12, 2008, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, at Consolacion Central School, Consolacion, Cebu.

I understand that the training aims to impart basic journalistic knowledge to the student-participants, spark their interests and enthusiasm in journalism, and equip them with journalistic skills to give them a competitive edge in the press conferences that they will be attending in the future. Moreover, the training also seeks to introduce current trends and techniques in journalism, not only for the students in particular but also for the school paper advisers in general.

On the other hand, on the part of Division Schools Press Conference 2008, I understand that the aims are: to serve as a forum communicating through a variety of journalistic approaches; to enhance journalism competencies through friendly individual and group competitions; and to select the division’s representatives to the regional press conference, in which I, the undersigned parent/guardian, am willing to support financially just for the benefits of my child.

Except for the registration fee which is to be shouldered only by the school paper advisers, I understand that my child will be provided personally with pocket money for food, fares and other incidental expenses. Besides, refund for the expenses in the previous area level presscon contests is to be given individually to the concerned student, exclusively for The Access staffers.

In giving this waiver, I understand that the school paper advisers are to join the said presscon in order for them to help monitor the discipline of the students. Thus, I am confident that my son/daughter will be in safe hands. Having stated this, in case of any untoward incident would happen that is beyond the human power to prevent, I shall not hold the school principal, school paper advisers or the faculty of Minglanilla National Science High School (MNSHS) liable for it. Since this is purely on voluntary process, it is my discretion to allow or not to allow my child to join in case my mind changes prior to the date.

Madame:

This waiver is to overtly give permission to my son/daughter
of                      Year, Section                                       to participate actively in the DIVISION SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE (DSPC) in ______________ writing category on November 10-13,  2009, Tuesday (P.M.-departure), Wednesday, Thursday & Friday at Daanbantayan National High School, Daanbantayan, Cebu.

I understand that the training aims to impart knowledge in journalism to the student-participants, spark their interests/enthusiasms, and equip them with journalistic skills to give them a competitive edge in the press conferences that they will be attending in the future. Moreover, the training also seeks to introduce current trends and techniques in journalism, not only on the campus journalists in particular but also on the school paper advisers in general.

I understand that the parent/s concerned has/have no financial obligation to defray expenses during the 4-day stay. All expenses/payments for registration fee, transportation fee, presscon kits, etc. are shouldered by the school through PTA funds. However, for extra money to buy snacks and other personal items, I only let my son/daughter have pocket money for incidental expenses, except only for the food (rice, canned goods, etc.) that I want him/her to bring while on the way to the destined stay-venue for 4 days just to minimize expenses.

In giving this waiver, I understand that the school paper advisers, together with the principal, will accompany the writer-contestants in order for them to help monitor the discipline of each student. Thus, I am confident that my son/daughter will be in safe hands. Having stated this, in case of any untoward incident would happen that is beyond the human power to prevent, I shall not hold the school principal, school paper advisers and the faculty of Minglanilla National Science High School (MNSHS) liable for it. 1. This article is important to the parents to keep them updated of what activities their kids are into more specially to the over protective parents or the so called paranoid parents.

  2. This is important as it allows the parent to be posted as to what and where thier childrens are going to but "waiver" as the literal meaning and explanation of it I don't agree as the school and the teacher will wash hands as to whatever happens to the student.A Communication letter will do rather than a waiver.

As a parent, I am always hesitant to sign a waiver. Because no parent would ever want to sign risking the lives of their precious children. Probably most of us just affix our signature without understanding what is the real content of what we are signing for. It means that we allow the school to waive their obligations towards our children if any cases of untoward incidents which in fact, might occur because of the school's prescribe activities. I just think schools and teachers should provide utmost diligence and take full responsibility towards our children. besides they are our children's second home and parents.
