“Writers are made, not born,” as what Mrs. Evelyn F. Balang mentioned in her rationale during the Southeast Area Level Campus Journalism Workshop.
The young journalists of Southeast Cebu, including the staffers of Minglanilla National Science High School took part in the Southeast Area Level Campus Journalism Workshop. It held at Dalaguete National High School last October 25-26. The delegates competed with different categories both in English and Filipino just like Photojournalism, Editorial, News, Feature and Sports Writing, Editorial Cartooning and Copy reading. The chosen top 15 proceeded to the Division Schools Press Conference.
In the nick of time, almost all the campus journalists advanced to the Division Level and said competition brought another honor to MNSHS again.
The workshop’s vision is not only enough for competition but also it aims student writers to become future professional journalists. Just to hone their journalistic writing skills, lectures from respective categories were held earlier before the contests.
Skills are not only the asset of being a great writer, but the most important thing is what we call the truth in writing. As what the journalist’s creed cited, the public journal is for public trust which is all connected with budding and professional journalists--to the full measure of responsibility, trustees for the public, and that acceptance of lesser service than the public service is a betrayal of journalism's trust. So meaning, we must ensure that the information we have shared must bring honor to everyone. It shows authenticity and fairness to the vast majority of all concerned.
It is always euphoric to know that there are still students who love writing and campus journalism; I hope that they will never lose the fire within themselves to stick to the creed of journalists and that they will all be molded to help the society through their pens.
ReplyDeleteThis article focuses of being a journalist and how to become an effective journalist. Yes, it's true that the information we shared to everyone must be authentic and fairness to the vast majority of all concerned. It;s not anout giving an information just to make people look at you for the hootest/newest which isn;t true at all but rathere of the truth in writing because we're responsible and full in charge of everything we have write-ups in our column.
ReplyDeleteI say that being a journalist is a tough job. Being an effective journalist must be genuine and overall artistic. I'm proud of students who love to write journalists because they might help the country someday on it's progress.
